Cannington Greyhound Track Upgrade

What was delivered:

• Improved track drainage
• Improved consistency with the track surface
• Consistent tangents from straight to the bent sections
• Improved consistency with reticulation
• New concrete plinth and painted steel lure rail to new design standards.
• Improved greyhound running lines onto the track
• Developed the project design brief in line with key track improvement recommendations from a risk management and injury prevention consultant.
• Detailed design management to capture key track improvement and upgrade works to reduce the risk of injury to Greyhounds.
• Overseeing of the head contractor engagement process within the design and award programme constraints.
• Shortlisting and ordering pre-procurement items to ensure project delivery within the programme.
• Stakeholder management and project design presentations to the relevant executive committees
• The project is due for completion mid October 2024, and within the budget.

Challenges:

Programme constraints with the construction timeframe fixed between a period of major greyhound races. Detailed contractor engagement process, pre procurement items and regular monitoring throughout to ensure delivery milestones achieved
